Wuuvvv Youuuuu!

Posted on 13th April 2013 in Month 17

The twins are learning things so fast, I can’t keep up.  They’re both picking up words (or parts of words) just about every time you say something (really, it’s maybe one new “word” a day).  Today Tanya told Cameron she was giving him some cookies (animal crackers) and Cameron said “oookie!”  The cutest, most heart-melting thing to date was a few weeks ago when I came home from work, hugged Sophia and told her I loved her.  Cameron walked up, hugged us both and said “wuuvvv youuuuu.”  Sophia said something similar later that day.  I died.

They’re both now really good at listening to things we ask them to do then doing them.  “Cameron, go get Sophia’s lunch box and give it to her” …and Cameron walks across the room, grabs the pink lunch box and gives it to Sophia.  They’re also really good at deciding to ignore some things we say (hmmm).  They seem to love reading more as time goes on.  They both love their swing set so much that it’s hard to get them to come back inside.  They also both love playing the piano – so much that they fight over it.  (Working on that…)

Today I got home from work in time to take them for a car ride before dinner.  They both love sporting their sunglasses and touring the town.  Here are Sophia and Cameron getting ready for today’s cruise…

Reading – You don’t have to take my word for it

Posted on 18th March 2013 in Month 16

Before going to bed each night, we read a story or two to the twins.  The more we read to them, the more they want to grab the books for themselves and flip their own pages.

I’m not around every morning when the kids get up.  When I am, we often spend a few minutes playing in one of the twins’ rooms before venturing downstairs.  Yesterday morning they took out a few blocks, but quickly moved on to the interesting stuff.  Books.

They each grabbed a book, found a place to sit, and started flipping pages.  Sophia even read (babbled) as she thumbed through the pages of her book.  Cute!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Posted on 17th March 2013 in Month 16

They’re not exactly full-blooded Irish, but the twins still wanted to dress up for St Patrick’s Day.  Here are “Mommy’s Little Leprechaun” and “Sham Rock.”

Cameron and Sophia had their first smoothie yesterday. They literally wouldn’t put them down and were really upset when they were gone.  Here’s Cameron a few seconds before realizing “his” smoothie is empty…

Running for Ketchup

Posted on 12th March 2013 in Month 16

As of a few days ago, Cameron and Sophia are 16 months old!  They’ll be off to college before we know it.  Crazy!  Here are some details to catch you up on the lives of Cameron and Sophia.

Cameron and Sophia don’t just walk now…they run.  They’re so quick that it’s really tough to get photos of them in the house. Sophia just started cutting her 13th & 14th teeth.  Cameron’s working on 5.  They both now know more sign language than I do and are starting to try more spoken words every day.  In their repertoire is: mama, dada, brobro (brother), sissy, out, ouch, papa (for Grandpa), baba (bottle) and babadadabaabaaa (everything else).  They both get extremely excited when you spell out their names (by pointing to some monogrammed towels they have).

So far, Tanya & I can understand their words.  I’m not sure anyone else can though.

They’re both remarkably good at calling for us by “mama” and “dada” when they want something.  They also mix pointing at things with different sign language signs.  Tonight Cameron pointed at the shower nozzle and gave me the sign for drink.  I don’t exactly know the translation for that, but I’m sure it was brilliant.

They both are trying to count with their fingers.  The most exciting part of counting is when someone gets to 5 and high fives can be shared…followed by clapping and giggling.

They’re definitely all girl and all boy.  Sophia already loves trying on (and showing off) new clothes, hats and sunglasses.  Cameron’s really good at breaking stuff.  They both look up at the sky when a plane flies by.

Stacking is a new favorite past time.  They both love building things with their giant Legos.  Their design skills need some work though.  They both love their cars & trucks.  They both can now straddle their push cars, move themselves around the house on them, and steer around obstacles. They’re also getting pretty good at “clean up time” before dinner.

They’re both tall enough that they can hit their heads on the kitchen table.  Climbing stairs is completely mastered – although Sophia prefers to try to walk up them instead of crawl up them (stars are still way too big for them to walk up).  They’re still mastering the art of going down stairs though.

They have a swing set in the back yard that they absolutely love.  The only problem with it is that they hate leaving it.

A few days ago, Tanya introduced them to dipping food in condiments.  Cameron LOVES it.  Sophia’s still trying to figure out why you’d want to ruin perfectly good tater tots with ketchup.  They’re both really good at eating on their own and have done really well recently at a few restaurants, including Famous Dave’s BBQ.

They love getting out of the house and strolling around anywhere we take them…

Most nights at least one of them sleeps through the night.  They’re typically sleeping 11-13 hours at night and a single 2-3 hour nap during the day.  We’re not pushing official potty training yet, but Sophia pees or poops on the toilet just about every time we set her on it.  She gives us the sign for toilet, grunts at us, or walks towards the bathroom fairly often when she has to go.  Cameron pees on the toilet fairly regularly, but doesn’t really like to poop on the toilet.

When I get home from work every day, I lay on the floor and the twins climb all over me looking for my belly button or trying to tickle me.  From that, they apparently learned to wrestle each other (usually it’s friendly)…

Their personalities are amazing – and very different.  We’re so completely in love with them we can barely stand it.

Alright, enough words (and poop talk).  Time for more photos!

Touring Whole Foods

Posted on 26th January 2013 in Uncategorized

Cameron and Sophia absolutely love getting out of the house. Whole Foods is one of their favorite places. Several of the employees there know them by name. Today we walked in the front door and one of the employees ran over nearly yelling “Cameron and Sophia!”

Today we practiced saying banana and a few other words. We tried out the “shopper in training” carts, but the twins are still too short for them. So, they rode around in carts and enjoyed all the colorful foods.

Family Photos

Posted on 11th October 2012 in Month 11

We have had a couple of photo shoot with the kids since they’ve been out of the NICU.  The first was with Bryan’s sister, Jackie in January.  The second was with Trish from Studio ATG in August.  We think these two sets of photos are the best from each session.

Here is a link to the photos from the January session:

We have photo release for all these photos, so feel free to either download or order prints for any of these photos.

11 Month Birthday

Posted on 9th October 2012 in Month 11, Monthly Birthdays

Today is the 11 month Birthday for Cameron & Sophia.

Here are their stats for today

Cameron – 18 lbs 10 ½ oz and 27” long – He gained 1.2 ½ lbs and grew ¾” longer from last month

Sophia – 15 lbs 1 ½ oz and 26 ¾” long – She gained 12 oz and grew ¼” longer from last month

Cameron is furniture walking like crazy.   We have had to do a lot of baby proofing in the house, they crawl everywhere and get into everything.  We love watching them explore!  Sophia now has 2 bottom teeth and on the 7th she started cutting her first top tooth.  Yesterday, the 8th, Cameron started cutting his first bottom tooth.
